Built for the way you watch

Plays your files as they are
Ensō's playback engine opens MKV and other formats right on your device, so your server does not have to transcode what your device can handle itself.
Downloads that keep up with you
Save the original file or a smaller version for offline viewing. Interrupted downloads carry on where they stopped, even after you close the app, and Smart Downloads keep the next episodes ready.
One app for the whole household
Add several accounts and servers and choose who is watching at launch. Every account keeps its own libraries, resume points and downloads.
Parental controls that mean it
Limit titles by age rating, with FSK, MPAA and TV ratings understood, and unlock with a PIN or Face ID. Switching accounts is protected as well.
Skips what you do not need
Jump over intros and carry on with the next episode automatically. It is prepared in the background, so it starts instantly. Audio and subtitle languages follow your Jellyfin settings.
Private by design
No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Ensō only talks to your own Jellyfin server, and your sign-in stays in the iOS Keychain.

Questions and answers
Do I need a Jellyfin server?
Yes. Ensō is a client for Jellyfin, the free software media system. It does not provide any content and does not work without a Jellyfin server that you or someone you know runs.
Is Ensō an official Jellyfin app?
No. Ensō is developed independently and is not affiliated with the Jellyfin project.
When will it be available?
Ensō is coming to the App Store. We will announce the launch on this website.
What will it cost?
Pricing will be announced before launch.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 16 or later and Apple TV with tvOS 17 or later, plus a companion app for Apple Watch.
Which languages does it speak?
Ensō speaks 73 languages and variants, from Afrikaans to Welsh, including right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. It follows your device's language, or you pick one in Settings. This website comes in the same languages: choose yours at the bottom of the page.
Does Ensō collect my data?
No. There are no analytics, no advertising and no accounts with us. Read the privacy policy for the details.
